Introduction

Successful patient outcomes are dependent upon accurate and efficient physiotherapy evaluation and assessment, especially in the field of men’s health physiotherapy. Whether experiencing urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, or pelvic pain, men’s health patients present with complex symptoms they may feel uncomfortable talking about. This course describes how to complete a thorough and efficient men’s health physiotherapy assessment, introducing specific questionnaires and standardised tests.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • explain the importance of the therapeutic relationship between the men’s health patient and physiotherapist
  • describe the different aspects of the male pelvic subjective examination and patient interview
  • discuss potential symptoms experienced by a men’s health patient
  • describe the different aspects of the male pelvic objective assessment and physical examination
  • explain the importance of clear and thorough patient education for men’s health patients

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
