Introduction

This course begins with a review of family-centred care emphasising the importance of therapist-family collaboration in developing an intervention plan. Goals and plans are created by analysing motor skills with a focus on the child’s strengths, inhibitory movements and level of assistance required per task. Pam Versfeld lists ways to create and write goals within an enriched environment that will lead to success for the child. This course also describes the GAME early intervention protocol, which utilises intense task-specific motor training within an enriched environment.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe how the recommendations for task specific motor training are embedded within a family centred therapy session for a child with developmental delay
