This course is part of a programme:

Introduction

Wound healing does not end once the wound surface has closed and re-epithelialisation is completed. The final stages of healing, surface remodelling, and scar maturation can continue for months to years. Therefore, care of the skin and soft tissue during the remodelling phase is of paramount importance to ensure the best possible cosmetic and functional outcomes.

This course overviews the final stage of burn wound healing, covering cleansing and dressing selection recommendations, post-healing skin care, scar management, and post-burn wound injury rehabilitation.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • discuss relevant physiology and post-burn wound injury intervention considerations
  • describe at least three skin care considerations relevant to post-burn wound injury healing
