Introduction

Coaching and mentoring are both collaborative processes that assist individuals in reaching their full potential. Coaching is generally a shorter term relationship focused on an individual achieving performance driven goals. Mentoring is often an ongoing relationship where a more experienced individual works with someone less experienced on personal and professional growth. Coaching and mentoring both play an important role in personal and professional development in healthcare. This course will equip you with insights and practical skills to develop your effectiveness as both a coach and mentor as part of your portfolio of leadership skills.

Aims

This course provides an overview of coaching and mentoring and explores the differences and similarities between the two approaches. A collection of practical tools and activities are provided to assist you in developing your skills and effectiveness in working with your colleagues in these different roles.

This course is made up of videos, reading, discussions and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:

I find this topic challenging, and I will use this course to start my journey into coaching and mentoring. Even though I have been a Physio for over 25 years, and I do some aspects of coaching and mentoring, I still do not do it all! Therefore, it is a helpful course to improve my use of coaching and mentoring tools.

Great Course! Honestly, I started off, naively, thinking that Coaching and Mentoring were similar. Now that I know that they are certainly not similar, I will be able to choose the appropriate tool, ask the right questions, and have better outcomes.

I really recommend this programme. All the leadership modules are amazing and really beneficial. I thought in a few situations in my practice that I am doing something wrong and I was blaming myself. However, after I went through these modules I saw the situations from a different perspective and received many new ideas for better management.
