Introduction
Effective note-taking is a crucial part of the learning process. Note-taking helps learners focus on pivotal concepts in lectures and stimulates active engagement with the material. By turning spoken words into concrete records, learners use, analyse and retain the material for longer periods of time. This course discusses types of notes, effective note-taking strategies, and how we can best combine handwritten and digital notes.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- describe at least two benefits of taking notes and the key features of five types of notes
- identify at least three strategies to improve note-taking and key differences between note-taking by hand and on a laptop
- describe at least two features of the Cornell Method of note-taking
Target audience
This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

We expect the required elements to take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your schedule and learning style.
