Introduction
Healthcare provider-patient communication is essential to the therapeutic relationship, helping to enhance cooperation, trust and positive outcomes. Using empathic communication allows the provider to understand the patient's perspective, which can improve diagnostic accuracy and ensure the most appropriate therapeutic interventions are selected. This approach to communication helps us to move from a patient-centred to a person-centred approach. This course will explore empathic communication, its implementation, and associated benefits and barriers.
