Introduction

Self-reflection in communication is a powerful tool that allows individuals to gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in their interactions with others. It involves examining values and unconscious personal biases and how they affect communication. These unconscious biases are called Implicit Biases. In a healthcare setting, implicit biases and values might compromise the quality of care provided. This course discusses the theory behind personal values and biases, how they affect communication, and techniques for self-reflection to become a better communicator.
