Introduction
Sports participation, exercise and physical activity can all place a high demand on the human body. Health professionals working with athletes of all ages and levels need to be knowledgeable about foundational concepts of sports medicine to provide the best care possible. Some of these foundational concepts are exercise physiology, anatomy and biomechanics, the continuum of mechanical stress and the principles of sports rehabilitation. The sports physiotherapist plays an essential role in providing education and resources to prevent injury and assist athletes in recovering from injury. In this course, the foundational concepts will be explored and the responsibilities of the sports physiotherapist will be highlighted.

This course aims to provide an overview of the foundational concepts of sports medicine and to highlight the role and responsibilities of the sports physiotherapist.
