Provide richer, more detailed information to PAI by speaking instead of typing. Voice dictation lets you easily express complex questions and include helpful context that might be tedious to type, resulting in more accurate and comprehensive responses from PAI as well as saving you time and providing a hands free experience.

iOS (iPhone & iPad)

1. Enable Dictation:
   • Go to Settings > General > Keyboard
   • Make sure “Enable Dictation” is turned on
2. Using Dictation:
   • Open the PAI app or webpage
   • Tap in the message field
   • Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard
   • Speak your question clearly
   • Tap Done when finished

Android

1. Enable Dictation:
   • Voice typing is enabled by default on most Android devices
   • If needed: Settings > System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard > Gboard > Voice typing
2. Using Dictation:
   • Open the PAI app or webpage
   • Tap in the message field
   • Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard
   • Speak your question clearly
   • The dictation will automatically end after a pause or tap the microphone again

Windows 11

1. Enable Dictation:
   • Press Windows key + H to open the dictation toolbar
   • Or go to Settings > Time & Language > Speech and ensure Speech is enabled
2. Using Dictation:
   • Open PAI in your browser
   • Click in the message field
   • Press Windows key + H or click the microphone in the dictation toolbar
   • Speak your question clearly
   • Click the microphone icon again or say “Stop dictating” when finished

macOS

1. Enable Dictation:
   • Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Dictation
   • Turn Dictation on
   • Choose a keyboard shortcut (default is press Fn key twice)
2. Using Dictation:
   • Open PAI in your browser
   • Click in the message field
   • Press your dictation shortcut (default: press Fn key twice)
   • Speak your question clearly
   • Click Done when finished

Chrome Browser (Any OS)

Google Chrome has its own built-in dictation:

1. Enable Dictation:
   • Open Chrome
   • Right-click in any text field
   • Select “Voice typing” from the context menu
2. Using Dictation:
   • Navigate to PAI in Chrome
   • Right-click in the message field
   • Select “Voice typing”
   • When the microphone appears, speak clearly
   • Click the microphone icon to stop

Troubleshooting Tips

• If dictation isn’t working:
  • Ensure your device has an internet connection
  • Check that your microphone is not muted or blocked
  • Try restarting your device
  • Make sure you’ve granted microphone permissions to your browser
• For better accuracy:
  • Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
  • Use in a quiet environment
  • Position yourself close to your device’s microphone
